Software Engineering Lead (Defense Technology)

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, with at least 5 days per week in the office; approximately 10% travel required. Applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $135,000–$273,000 per year, with ranges determined by experience, skills, and education.

What you will do

• Lead the strategy, execution, roadmap, prioritization, and productization of Advanced Capabilities software offerings.
• Design high-fidelity prototypes and architect scalable end-to-end software solutions using appropriate languages, frameworks, data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and performance testing strategies and lead complex incident investigations.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, system stability, and deployed-environment reliability.
• Lead legacy-system modernization, risk mitigation, secure development, and threat-modeling initiatives.
• Coach and mentor engineers while coordinating with engineering, business, business development, external clients, and customer sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years of software development experience.
• Extensive experience with C, C++, Java, JavaScript, and Python.
• Strong experience in system and software architecture, design patterns, UML diagrams, requirements management, documentation, training, and tactical software deployment.
• Hands-on experience deploying containers with Docker and Kubernetes-based orchestration platforms.
• Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance and ability to work on-site in Arlington, Virginia are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering or another technical field.
• Networking, VMware vSphere, Risk Management Framework, Authority to Operate, and cyber policy experience.
• Experience with complex software development environments, technical writing, proposals, or white papers.
