Location: Hybrid/on-site in Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ, with at least 3 days in the office; travel up to 10% may be required. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $74,000–$184,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, and integrate complex software using C, C++, Python, JavaScript, and Java.
• Analyze and modernize legacy monolithic software through brownfield and greenfield refactoring.
• Assess and deconstruct Navy tactical system code for Surface Navy Combat systems.
• Prototype next-generation solutions using AI/ML, distributed processing, and modeling.
• Develop software architecture, hardware and software interfaces, and tactical-system requirements.
• Collaborate with customers and leadership on requirements, technical progress, cost, and schedule; support design reviews and testing at laboratories and government test sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 0–5 years of full-time professional experience.
• Experience or familiarity with combat-system software and tactical systems on Department of Defense programs.
• Experience with C, C++, Python, and/or Java; Linux development and shell scripting.
• Understanding of distributed systems, algorithms, data structures, software design patterns, Agile development, Git configuration management, and DevSecOps.
• Ability to work on-site in Arlington, VA or Mount Laurel, NJ and obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with AEGIS or SSDS tactical systems and the AEGIS Common Source Library or SSDS Single Source Library.
• Experience with Make, Maven, Ant, X-Windows, MBSE, Jenkins, Jira, and the Atlassian tool suite.
• Knowledge of networking, VMware vSphere, Azure, containers, and complex mixed-code development environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, organization, problem-solving, teamwork, and planning skills.
