Propulsion Test Engineer II (Aerospace): Building, modifying, and operating test stands and test articles for Terran R rocket engines, high-energy components, and full stages with an accent on fluid systems, structural and mechanical systems, and test campaign execution. Focus on designing and activating test facilities, controlling automated test operations, preparing hardware, and resolving anomalies across complex propulsion systems.

Location: On-site at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, United States. The role may require travel to production and launch locations, up to 10%.

Salary: $104,000–$156,000 USD per year.

What you will do

  • Design, build, activate, maintain, and upgrade test stands for high-energy components, rocket engines, and launch vehicle stages.
  • Design gas, liquid, and cryogenic fluid systems, including P&IDs, analysis, component selection, and fabrication instructions.
  • Conduct test operations using GUIs, automation, cameras, and telemetry during flight acceptance, qualification, and development campaigns.
  • Prepare, integrate, inspect, repair, and process test articles before and after testing.
  • Manage non-conformances, corrective work instructions, requirements, and standardization across test sites.
  • Partner with engineers, technicians, welders, and quality inspectors to solve technical problems and improve test processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to safely operate common power tools and a valid driver’s license for test-site vehicles.
  • Ability to deliver on tight schedules using unconventional and creative solutions.
  • Successful candidates must clear a US government-administered background check for on-site work at the government partner location.
  • Operations and integration assignments typically require a scheduled morning or evening shift.

Nice to have

  • 3D modeling and drafting experience, including GD&T.
  • Engineering fundamentals in thermal-fluid systems and structures.
  • Hands-on fabrication experience with complex assemblies.
  • Experience with high-pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammables, hydraulics, and large-scale fluid P&IDs.
  • Technical writing or documentation experience.
