Equity Analyst - Special Situations

Location: Chicago, United States

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Provide real-time analysis of corporate events, distressed scenarios, capital structure dislocations, and other special situations.
• Work with equity traders to generate trades from research outputs and develop catalyst-driven theses around corporate actions.
• Maintain financial models and valuation scenarios to analyze company performance.
• Monitor and build probability distributions for upcoming events to anticipate stock performance and volatility.
• Research new strategies and evaluate the impact of events on derivatives markets.
• Collaborate with software engineers and quantitative researchers to build automated web scrapers, databases, and data analytics tools.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of financial markets, company valuations, corporate actions, and special situations.
• Knowledge of options pricing and Greeks.
• Coding capability in Python, R, Matlab, or a similar statistical language.
• Strong understanding of descriptive statistics and experience working with large datasets.
• Ability to synthesize qualitative and incomplete quantitative information from disparate sources.
• Extreme attention to detail, accuracy, and confident communication skills.
