MES Technical Project Manager

Location: Onsite in Normal, Illinois, United States

Salary: $71,000–$88,800 per year for Illinois-based applicants; annual performance bonus and equity awards may also be available.

What you will do

• Support planning and execution of MES rollouts across Body, Paint, General Assembly, Battery, Drive Unit, and End-of-Line shops.
• Coordinate two-hour downtime windows and buffer days for system validations and production pushes while protecting production throughput.
• Track milestones, line readiness, Bill of Process enrichments, technical blockers, and project health for leadership updates.
• Align Software Engineering, PLC/Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, vendors, and shop-floor stakeholders on technical requirements and system changes.
• Manage documentation, testing and validation cycles, escalation tickets, dashboards, runbooks, change logs, and post-deployment summaries.
• Facilitate status reviews, issue triage, and go/no-go meetings, driving decisions, owners, and due dates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–3+ years of project coordination or project management experience in manufacturing, automation, or a high-tech environment.
• Familiarity with MES systems in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
• Understanding of Agile or Waterfall project management methodologies.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar project management and collaboration tools.
• Strong facilitation, communication, organization, documentation, conflict-management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to influence without formal authority.
