Senior Software Engineer, C++ (Algo) (C++)

Location: Chicago office only

Annual base salary: $150,000–$250,000 USD, plus an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Design, build, and implement trading applications and libraries for exchange gateways, strategy execution, risk management, trade reporting, and market data processing.
• Develop high-availability systems with strong performance, integrity, reliability, logging, and traceability.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers and traders on strategy development.
• Design, develop, and deploy software using agile methodologies.
• Mentor junior engineers through best-practice guidance, pair programming, and code reviews.
• Provide production support, maintain existing systems, improve performance, and evaluate new technologies.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing high-availability server-side systems, preferably with C++ or Rust.
• 3+ years using modern C++ standards or Rust.
• Experience with multithreaded programming and strong understanding of hardware-software interaction.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong practical knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, and concurrency.
• Positive AI mentality, practical use of AI coding tools, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in trading or another latency-sensitive industry.
• Experience with numerical computing or collaboration with quantitative researchers.
• Experience with exotic hardware/software architectures and full-lifecycle development.
• Understanding of TCP, UDP, IPv4, and related hardware/software.
• Experience with additional languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
