Senior Software Engineer (DeFi)

Location: Chicago, United States

Annual base salary: $130,000–$225,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and skills. Annual discretionary bonus is also available.

What you will do

• Ingest and normalize data across Ethereum, Solana, L2 rollups such as Arbitrum, and custody platforms.
• Integrate with DeFi protocols including AMMs, lending platforms, options vaults, and staking providers to query on-chain state and track positions.
• Build services connecting on-chain activity with off-chain reporting for balances, transfers, margin positions, settlement, fees, and ERC standards.
• Develop APIs and UIs that provide traders and operations teams with real-time visibility into DeFi positions and risk.
• Model DeFi instruments alongside traditional financial equivalents for unified reporting and risk management.
• Provide on-call support and drive projects from design through completion.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with EVM internals, smart contract ABIs, and libraries such as ethers or web3.
• Experience with DeFi protocols, multi-chain architectures, L1s, L2 rollups, bridges, or cross-chain data challenges.
• Multiple years of server-side development and confident JVM knowledge.
• Working knowledge of Node and TypeScript, microservice architectures, domain-driven design, and domain modeling.
• Understanding of functional programming paradigms and type theory.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, ArgoCD, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQS, RabbitMQ, Linux, Ansible, Nginx, and Git.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Solana or other non-EVM chains.
• Experience with oracle systems such as Chainlink or on-chain pricing.
• Willingness to learn Clojure, one of the team’s primary languages.
