Senior Staff Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid, with onsite work at least three days per week in San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney, or Tokyo, depending on workplace policy

What you will do

• Architect critical hirify.global Kubernetes Platform components for fleet management, multi-tenancy, resilience, and edge environments.
• Design systems capable of managing tens of thousands of Kubernetes clusters across hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor a distributed team of 15–20 engineers through design reviews, coding standards, and technical guidance.
• Partner with Product Management, Data Services, and Core Hybrid Cloud teams on technical roadmaps for stateful workloads and disaster recovery.
• Contribute to upstream CNCF projects, author technical papers, and support patent development.
• Resolve complex production issues with customers and support teams while improving platform scale and user experience.

Requirements

• 15–20+ years of software development experience in product-led companies.
• Experience architecting and shipping large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or Java.
• Experience with cloud-native systems, Docker, containers, and large-scale control planes.
• Ability to drive consensus across teams and balance long-term innovation with short-term trade-offs.
• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.

Nice to have

• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, including controllers and API machinery.
• Experience with multi-tenancy, fleet management, edge computing, and resource-constrained environments.
• Contributions to CNCF projects such as Cluster API or Kappa.
