System Engineer (Optical Sensors)

What you will do

• Design products from sensor physics through optical and mechanical integration with application firmware.
• Develop sensor systems for optical Time-of-Flight/LiDAR, spectrometers, detector technologies, industrial optical sensing, and communication applications.
• Model active and passive optical properties and define suitable signal-processing algorithms.
• Define system specifications from customer requirements and develop interdisciplinary system concepts linking architectures with ASIC and software functionality.
• Plan and manage projects, work packages, schedules, budgets, and status reporting.
• Plan and execute validation and qualification activities, perform electrical and optical laboratory characterization, support scalable testing infrastructure, production processes, technical documentation, application notes, and patents.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Information Technology, with a focus on optical semiconductors, sensors, or optical transceivers.
• 5+ years of related experience in optoelectronic industrial R&D.
• Strong background in optical semiconductor design, sensor physics, processing, and production.
• Interest and experience in sensor system design, including software algorithm definition, implementation, testing, and new architecture definition.
• Experience with structured project management methodologies.
• Expertise in embedded systems and/or IC design and testing.
• Application development and graphical user interfaces for laboratory testing, using scripting languages such as Python and/or C++, C# to automate measurement routines.
• Laboratory experience in prototyping and electrical and optical characterization, plus expertise in optical design, measurement, and test setup integration.
• Ability to work across electronics, optics, mechanical structures, and communication systems, with an accurate, self-contained working style and ability to collaborate across functions and global locations.
• English communication skills, verbal and written.

• Preparedness to learn German and acquire German communication skills.
