Analyst, Leveraged Finance Portfolio Management, Corporate Banking

Location: New York, NY; the work arrangement includes on-site and remote proportions to be discussed during the interview.

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually for the New York, NY market, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Support the execution of leveraged finance transactions, including LBOs, recapitalizations, and refinancings.
• Prepare pre-screen memoranda and credit approval packages, including credit strengths, risks, and mitigants.
• Build cash flow, LBO, risk-rating, and return models with detailed assumptions and downside cases.
• Conduct due diligence with senior leveraged finance professionals and cross-functional partners, including data-room analysis.
• Onboard new clients to CIBC platforms and maintain lender relationships and transaction market data.
• Monitor borrowers through quarterly, semi-annual, and annual portfolio reviews and enterprise risk reporting.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in leveraged finance, a ratings agency, investment banking, or portfolio management.
• Strong understanding of credit analysis, accounting principles, and financial statement interpretation.
• Experience building accurate financial models and strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, attention to detail, and initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate across business groups, and interact with colleagues at various levels.
• Legal eligibility to work in the specified United States location is required; a valid work or study permit may be required where applicable.
