Analyst, Leveraged Finance Portfolio Management, Corporate Banking (Leveraged Finance)

Location: New York, NY; job location: NY-New York, 300 Madison Ave Fl 8. Candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and, where applicable, hold a valid work or study permit. The proportion of on-site and remote work will be discussed during the interview.

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually for the New York, NY market, based on experience, qualifications, and location. Additional incentive compensation may include a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Support the execution of sponsor-backed leveraged finance transactions, including LBOs, recapitalizations, and refinancings.
• Prepare pre-screen memoranda and credit approval packages, including credit strengths, risks, and mitigants.
• Build cash flow, LBO, risk rating, and return models with detailed assumptions and downside cases.
• Conduct due diligence with senior Leveraged Finance professionals and other business areas, including work in data rooms.
• Onboard new clients to CIBC platforms and collaborate with internal partners.
• Monitor borrowers through quarterly, semi-annual, and annual portfolio reviews, enterprise risk reporting, market analysis, and lender relationship management.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in leveraged finance, a ratings agency, investment banking, or portfolio management.
• Strong understanding of credit analysis and accounting principles, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
• Ability to build and accurately review financial models and charts.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to grasp complex concepts quickly.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, take initiative, ask questions, and work proactively with team members and other CIBC groups.
• Ability to contribute to high-performance teams and interact confidently with colleagues at various levels.
• Willingness to work extended hours in a high-pressure, high-reward environment.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Digital proficiency, including the ability to seek innovative solutions and adapt to new tools and trends.
