Senior Software Engineer, Sensor - Core Libraries (Cybersecurity)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, USA; hybrid work with two on-site days per week at one of the posted locations.

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 base per year, plus eligibility for bonuses and equity grants.

What you will do

• Design, implement, test, extend, and maintain shared Windows, Linux, and macOS libraries used by the sensor platform.
• Gather requirements from sensor development organizations and deliver reliable libraries without compromising development speed.
• Own work end to end, including design, production validation, testing, and rollback planning.
• Drive technical proposals, design documentation, design reviews, architecture discussions, and cross-organization planning.
• Investigate production incidents and complex escalations, while improving knowledge of fleet-scale failure modes.
• Mentor junior engineers through feedback, pairing, and collaborative code and design reviews.

Requirements

• Strong systems software engineering foundation with hands-on C and C++ experience in a low-level systems context.
• Experience reasoning about reliability and correctness for software operating across large endpoint fleets.
• Cross-platform experience with Windows, Linux, and/or macOS, including portability and platform-specific constraints.
• Ability to solve ambiguous technical problems, influence direction across team boundaries, and communicate complex tradeoffs clearly.
• Strong engineering fundamentals, including testable and reviewable code, attention to edge cases, and reliable validation practices.
• Experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes; occasional travel for team offsites and in-person meetings is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in endpoint security, EDR, kernel-adjacent software, or sensor platform engineering.
• Experience maintaining cross-platform libraries with ABI stability, versioning, and backward compatibility requirements.
• Open-source contributions, technical writing, conference talks, or published engineering work.
