Senior Engineer, Flight Controls - X-BAT

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance is required.

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Design and implement flight control laws and supporting logic across multiple X-BAT flight regimes.
• Build and mature high-fidelity, time-accurate 6DOF simulation environments for control development and pre-flight performance prediction.
• Execute linear, nonlinear, Monte Carlo, disturbance, sensitivity, degraded-operation, and HIL verification activities.
• Diagnose simulation-to-test mismatches, unidentified dynamics, and modeling gaps.
• Support flight-test operations, envelope expansion, test planning, and rapid iteration between flights.
• Collaborate with propulsion, aerodynamics, actuation, sensors, state estimation, and autonomy teams on integrated system performance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of flight controls or GNC experience on real flight vehicles.
• Strong background in aircraft flight dynamics, 6DOF simulation, control law design, control allocation, or real-time trajectory generation.
• Experience with verification and validation, flight-test support, post-flight analysis, system identification, and model refinement.
• Proficiency in C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and/or Python.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Experience generating flight-control and simulation artifacts for airworthiness certification is required.

Nice to have

• Autonomous systems or missile/UAV GNC experience.
• Experience with NPSS propulsion models, HIL or integrated simulation/test environments, and Linux-based development workflows.
• Familiarity with sensor and air-data systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Experience in rapid development environments with tight simulation-to-test iteration loops.
• Ability to obtain an S//SAR-level security clearance.
