Manager, Propulsion (Fuel System) (R5088)

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site

Salary: $150,000–$230,000 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular employees.

What you will do

• Lead fuel system development from architecture through testing and flight operations for the X-BAT vehicle.
• Manage and mentor engineers and technicians working on fuel tanks, pumps, valves, venting, pressurization, level sensing, and propulsion fluid systems.
• Drive integration for elevated-G maneuvers, transient operation, vapor ingestion, cavitation, thermal effects, and fault tolerance.
• Guide thermodynamic and fluid dynamic trade studies covering heat soak, vapor pressure, venting, and transient flow response.
• Coordinate testing, instrumentation planning, performance validation, failure investigations, and root cause analysis.
• Align technical execution, schedules, suppliers, and cross-functional work across propulsion, airframe, mission systems, flight test, manufacturing, and vehicle integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 7–10+ years of experience developing aerospace fuel or fluid systems.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, aerospace propulsion, and compressible and incompressible flow systems.
• Experience with fuel system integration, testing, operational support, and leading engineering teams or major subsystem development.
• U.S. citizenship or the ability to comply with ITAR requirements is required.
• Offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check.

Nice to have

• Experience with jet-powered UAVs, tactical aircraft, aerospace fuel systems, or rocket propulsion fluid systems.
• Familiarity with GFSSP, REFPROP, ANSYS, or fluid system modeling tools.
• Experience with slosh dynamics, cavitation, vapor ingestion, venting, thermal management, and pressurization systems.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR-level security clearance.
