Staff Data Architect

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite. Travel to other facilities or vendor sites may be required up to 10% of the time.

Salary: $155,800–$221,160 USD per year in California.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable enterprise data infrastructure, including data lakes, warehouses, real-time streaming platforms, and production pipelines.
• Own data architecture from ingestion through transformation and consumption, ensuring data quality, reliability, security, observability, and disaster recovery.
• Integrate PLM, MES/MOM, ERP, IoT, sensor, shop-floor, test-equipment, and operational technology data.
• Build data solutions and MLOps infrastructure supporting AI/ML model training, deployment, monitoring, engineering analysis, manufacturing optimization, and supply-chain intelligence.
• Establish data governance, architecture standards, and modern data practices while optimizing performance, cost, and scalability.
• Lead and mentor a data engineering team and provide strategic technical guidance to executive leadership and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a related field, including 3+ years in technical leadership.
• Enterprise-scale data infrastructure and production pipeline experience, with expert-level SQL and Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and data-processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or Airflow.
• Experience with data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, plus production data infrastructure for AI/ML initiatives.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or otherwise eligible for required U.S. Department of State export-control authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other hardware-intensive industries.
• PLM, ERP, and MES integration experience, including Teamcenter, Windchill, NetSuite, SAP, or similar systems.
• MLOps tools, feature stores, real-time streaming, event-driven systems, vector databases, knowledge graphs, AI/LLM architectures, digital twins, or simulation data management.
• DevOps/DataOps practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Data security, compliance, governance, dimensional modeling, data vault methodology, or open-source data engineering experience.
