Senior Technical Architect, Data Engineering (Python)

Location: Remote with required onsite visits to a SCIF in the Washington, D.C.–Baltimore area. U.S.-based candidates must reside in one of the listed eligible states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, or WV. International candidates may reside in the United Kingdom only.

Salary: $175,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and implement Python-based ETL frameworks, orchestration layers, and high-throughput data pipelines.
• Design and optimize Kafka or RabbitMQ event-driven streaming systems.
• Build and scale FastAPI microservices with strong performance, security, and observability.
• Lead MongoDB data modeling, indexing, aggregation, sharding, replication, and performance tuning.
• Design Redis-based caching, session management, and high-speed data access layers.
• Define distributed-systems standards, lead architecture reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and drive Kubernetes and AWS integration.

Requirements

• Expert-level Python experience across ETL, microservices, and distributed data processing.
• Strong FastAPI experience and production-level Kafka or RabbitMQ expertise.
• Mandatory MongoDB expertise and experience with Redis or another in-memory database.
• Strong Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS experience across compute, data, networking, and security services.
• Experience debugging complex distributed or high-scale systems and applying Secure SDLC principles.
• Professional experience implementing Agentic AI workflows with LangChain and CrewAI, plus a bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Space industry data familiarity.
• Current and active Top Security Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
• Experience with distributed systems, RAG pipelines, and modern cloud-native development.
