TL;DR
Senior Staff Engineer, Operations Analysis (Defense/Aerospace): Modeling, simulating, and analyzing autonomous aircraft systems across component, system, mission, and campaign levels with an accent on military operations, survivability, and operational effectiveness. Focus on building mission-level models, evaluating force-on-force engagements and contested environments, and translating analysis into system design and mission decisions.

Location: Seattle, Washington; Dallas, Texas; Washington, DC; or Remote. Workplace: On-site.

Salary: $180,000–$270,000 per year. Seattle pay range: $220,000–$330,000 per year. Compensation may vary by work location, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.

What you will do

  • Plan and execute operational analyses of autonomous systems in representative military scenarios.
  • Develop and run modeling, simulation, and wargaming analyses covering system performance, mission impact, survivability, and contested environments.
  • Build, modify, and analyze mission-level models using AFSIM, STK, MATLAB, Python, or similar frameworks.
  • Conduct trade studies, sensitivity analyses, force-on-force assessments, and sensor and autonomy analyses.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, DoD stakeholders, operators, and analysts to convert findings into system insights and concepts of operations.
  • Prepare technical reports and briefings, maintain reproducible analysis pipelines, and coach incoming analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 9+ years of experience in operational analysis, modeling and simulation, operations research, defense, or aerospace.
  • Active Secret clearance required at minimum.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance; S//SAR clearance eligibility is desired.
  • Working knowledge of military operations, modeling and simulation, data science, and operational analysis techniques.
  • Experience with scripting, version control, scalable compute workflows, and reproducible analysis.

Nice to have

  • Force-on-force analysis, CONOPS development, or military campaign modeling experience.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, Brawler, ESAMS, JCIDS, and military operational testing.
  • Systems engineering product development experience, including SysML or MBSE.
  • Experience leading products from pre-shaping through tactical deployment.
