TL;DR
Senior Cyber Policy Lead (Cybersecurity Policy): Governing access to sensitive cyber-relevant AI model capabilities and maintaining cybersecurity policy commitments with an accent on controlled-access frameworks, technical safeguards, and regulatory standards engagement. Focus on translating capability evaluations and safeguard work into policy positions, coordinating with government stakeholders, and building cybersecurity disclosure and national security relationships.

Location: Washington, DC; hybrid policy requiring staff to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $285,000–$330,000 USD

What you will do

  • Own and consolidate access-requirements policies for controlled access to sensitive cyber-relevant model capabilities.
  • Maintain cyber-related policy commitments and align them with technical safeguards and changing regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the primary policy interface with government and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Build relationships across coordinated vulnerability disclosure, cybersecurity policy, and national security communities.
  • Author reporting for partners and regulators and translate technical evaluations into policy positions.
  • Work with technical teams to understand probes, classifiers, and other safeguards relevant to access policy.

Requirements

  • Direct experience engaging with the US government and regulatory parties on cybersecurity matters.
  • Experience authoring policy positions, formal reports, or regulatory responses for government audiences.
  • Extensive experience in cybersecurity policy, including coordinated vulnerability disclosure.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Active secret security clearance or higher, or eligibility to obtain one.

Nice to have

  • Experience coordinating sensitive pre-release or pre-publication engagement with government partners.
  • Familiarity with government information-sharing and incident-notification frameworks.
  • Experience engaging with cybersecurity-focused government agencies, regulators, or standards bodies, including on AI.
  • Ability to interpret technical security materials such as capability evaluations, vulnerability reports, and threat assessments.
  • Background spanning legal, technical, and policy disciplines related to vulnerabilities and disclosure.
