What you will do

• Design primary and secondary structures for large-scale, artificial-gravity, human-rated space stations.
• Evaluate static and dynamic loads, vibrations, thermal conditions, and other environmental factors to guide design decisions.
• Perform mechanical design and structural analysis, create manufacturing drawings and test plans, and develop concepts of operations.
• Lead design trades and manage interfaces with subsystem teams.
• Work with fabricators and technicians to improve designs, develop manufacturing processes, and resolve hardware issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, civil engineering, physics, or mathematics.
• At least 2 years of experience with CAD and FEA software.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and developing mechanical components or systems.
• Experience with structural design, failure analysis, root-cause investigation, or high-performance vehicle and spacecraft components is relevant to the role.
• Access to controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for a deemed export license.

Nice to have

• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Recent experience with NX and Teamcenter.
• Analysis experience with Ansys, Femap/Nastran, or Abaqus.
• Experience implementing and analyzing GD&T according to ASME Y14.5.
• Familiarity with spacecraft standards such as SMC-S-016 and NASA-STD-5001.
