Senior Hedge Fund Controller

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 base salary per year plus annual bonus opportunity

What you will do

• Oversee a team of Fund Controllers responsible for accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and tax reporting for private funds.
• Review monthly financial reporting from service providers and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual fund deliverables.
• Lead annual fund audits, including financial statements, footnotes, workbooks, audit deliverables, and resource allocation.
• Develop accounting policies for private funds and assess private securities, valuation, legal documentation, and tax leakage consequences.
• Manage tax estimates, tax returns, K-1s, fund expenses, internal controls, performance analytics, management fees, incentive allocations, capital calls, distributions, and redemptions.
• Coordinate new fund setups and liquidations, support portfolio managers, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external firms, and develop team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with strong partnership accounting and investment company accounting knowledge.
• Experience reviewing audited financial statements and understanding K-1 and partnership tax reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and delivery-management skills.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and resolve issues with service providers.

Nice to have

• CPA or equivalent qualification.
• Big Four accounting firm experience.
• Real estate fund accounting expertise.
