Coder Quality Auditor (Medical Coding)

Location: Remote - Nationwide, United States; travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations may be required based on business needs.

Salary: $57,400–$99,000 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, baseline, and special-project quality audits of inpatient and outpatient physician coding.
• Assess individual and overall coding trends to identify education and training needs.
• Create presentations, handbooks, coding aids, learning materials, and training programs.
• Support initial coding, edits, denials, and appeals as needed.
• Serve as a technical resource on professional coding standards, CMS and AMA guidelines, and coding procedures.
• Prepare audit findings, compliance-risk reports, and other reports for coders, managers, leaders, providers, and clients.

Requirements

• 5+ years of coding experience and 3+ years of auditing experience.
• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one current professional certification is required: CPC, CCS-P, CCS, CMPA, RHIA, or RHIT.
• Experience with multiple EMR systems, encoders, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical/surgical terminology, and professional coding standards; strict confidentiality is required.
• Ability to work remotely nationwide in the United States and travel onsite when business needs require.
