Tax Manager - Commercial

Location: East Lansing, Michigan; qualified candidates must reside in or near the office or be willing to relocate to the area. The role follows a principally in-person model with flexibility determined with the supervisor and team, and includes regional client travel and occasional overnight travel.

Salary: $100,000–$145,000 per year in the stated regions.

What you will do

• Review partnership, corporate, and individual federal, foreign, state, and local tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions.
• Assist with federal and state tax audits and determine tax objectives, scope, and methodology.
• Identify tax solutions, credits, and opportunities arising from tax law changes.
• Use CCH Axcess and other technology to support technical tax work and engagement quality.
• Manage engagement economics, including billing, realization, and collections.
• Build client relationships, support proposals and sales calls, and supervise and develop 1–2 associates per engagement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in public accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• CPA or Bar License required.
• Must reside in or near the East Lansing office or be willing to relocate to the area.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Availability for client travel, occasional overnight stays, and hours exceeding the standard 40-hour work week may be required.
