TL;DR
Quality Specialist II, Weekend Shift (Aerospace): Performing hands-on inspections and quality control for propulsion components, large structures, mechanical assemblies, and production hardware with an accent on metrology, GD&T interpretation, and aerospace manufacturing compliance. Focus on developing inspection plans, managing non-conforming hardware through MRB processes, and analyzing traceability data to mitigate quality risks during weekend production operations.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. Weekend shift, Friday through Monday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. PT.

Salary: $38.40–$57.60 USD per hour, plus 10% shift premium and 8 guaranteed overtime hours per week.

What you will do

  • Perform in-process, final, borescope, and FOD inspections on propulsion components, large structures, mechanical assemblies, and production hardware.
  • Review hardware requirements, determine pass/fail status, and document inspection results, non-conformances, and deviations.
  • Develop and implement incoming, in-process, and final inspection plans aligned with Product Quality Engineering requirements.
  • Support drawing standardization, design for manufacturability, configuration management, and quality infrastructure.
  • Manage calibration activities, support internal audits, and analyze traceability data to identify trends and mitigate quality risks.
  • Collaborate with inspectors, engineers, production, and quality stakeholders during weekend operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in inspection or quality-focused aerospace manufacturing roles.
  • Expert proficiency with calibrated metrology equipment and precision hand tools, including calipers, micrometers, and bore gages.
  • Strong ability to interpret GD&T according to ASME Y14.5, engineering drawings, wire diagrams, work instructions, and CAD models.
  • Experience performing thorough inspections and ensuring compliance with quality, hardware, and regulatory requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with MRB processes for identifying, inspecting, documenting, and dispositioning non-conforming hardware.
  • Clear communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

  • ASQ CQE/CQIA, IPC-A-610, or IPC-A-620 certification.
  • Experience inspecting COPVs or avionics hardware, including connectors, power supplies, PCBs, wire harnesses, and integrated assemblies.
  • Experience with Jira, MES, ERP, Teamcenter, and CAD systems.
  • Project leadership, quality improvement, or A&P certification experience.
