TL;DR
Quality Engineer III (Spacecraft) (Aerospace Quality): Developing and maintaining inspection plans, quality processes, and acceptance records for spacecraft electrical, avionics, structural, fluids, and propulsion hardware with an accent on product reliability, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Focus on investigating non-conformances, implementing corrective actions, auditing processes, and improving inspection efficiency for flight products.

Location: Onsite at the Spacecraft Integration facility in Leander, Texas, United States. U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations is required for ITAR compliance.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection plans, equipment, training, and standard work instructions for spacecraft flight hardware.
  • Partner with design engineering and manufacturing teams on product development, production, testing, manufacturability, and first article inspections.
  • Manage product acceptance records, traceability, pedigree documentation, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, document, contain, and disposition non-conforming products through quarantine plans and corrective actions.
  • Lead quality inspectors, perform product and process audits, and improve inspection efficiency and quality performance.
  • Track production data, analyze first-pass yield and non-conformance trends, and execute projects to reduce the cost of poor quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, quality, and/or design engineering; aerospace experience is required.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, GD&T, technical instructions, and quality-control documentation.
  • Experience with aerospace, military, or government quality standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, teamwork, and flexibility regarding workflow and processes.
  • Must meet U.S. government ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, quality, and/or design engineering.
  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing processes, structures and composites, electrical and avionics, and fluids or propulsion.
  • Knowledge of Lean, measurement systems analysis, design of experiments, statistical process control, root cause analysis, corrective action, APQP, metrology, PFMEA, and control plans.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001, IPC certifications, NASA-STD-8739.4, and cleanroom standards.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
