Hedge Fund Controller

Location: New York

Salary: $90,000–$120,000 base salary plus bonus opportunity for New York; other ranges apply in Massachusetts, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

What you will do

• Oversee quarterly accounting and financial reporting for multiple private real estate and hedge funds.
• Review property-level reporting from sub-advisors and joint venture partners, including valuations and fund analytics.
• Lead annual audited financial statement preparation, including footnotes, workbooks, and audit deliverables.
• Manage partnership tax deliverables, including returns, Schedule K-1s, and coordination with tax advisors.
• Calculate management fees, high-water-mark fees, carried interest, capital calls, distributions, and redemption payments.
• Coordinate fund launches and liquidations, wire transfers, budgets, expense payments, and internal control documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 7–8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong partnership accounting skills and knowledge of investment company accounting.
• Experience with real estate funds and reviewing audited financial statements.
• Understanding of Schedule K-1 and partnership tax reporting.
• Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, time-management, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to manage multiple funds, work independently, meet deadlines, and resolve issues with service providers.

Nice to have

• CPA or equivalent qualification.
• Big Four accounting experience.
