Actuarial Associate (Insurance)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut, United States; hybrid. Authorization to work in the United States is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $106,000–$180,000 per year when the role is performed in Connecticut.

What you will do

• Perform annuity, accident and health, and long-term care statutory and IFRS valuation, including formula reserves, first-principles reserving, and cash flow testing.
• Support quarterly and annual life insurance valuation and financial reporting.
• Use actuarial modeling software to assess risk and provide management information for product development, valuation, and asset-liability management.
• Conduct actuarial research, audits, experience studies, statistical analysis, and calculations.
• Support policyholders and provide manual calculation assistance to the administrative system.
• On the exam track, prepare for and sit actuarial exams in line with program requirements.

Requirements

• BA or BS in mathematics, statistics, economics, or actuarial science.
• At least one actuarial exam completed.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply them to problem-solving.
• Strong communication skills and business judgment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with actuarial software, especially the AXIS Actuarial modeling system.
• Two or more years of relevant actuarial and insurance industry experience, or equivalent training and experience.
• Long-term care experience.
• ASA designation.
