Associate Actuary PCS (Property & Casualty Insurance)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; other listed locations include Parsippany, New Jersey; Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Jersey City, New Jersey. Primarily office-based.

Base salary: $109,000–$135,000 for New York positions; $105,000–$130,000 for New Jersey positions. Bonus eligibility applies under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Perform and communicate Private Client Select reserve reviews.
• Complete trend studies and evaluate emerging loss experience with Pricing Actuaries and Underwriting.
• Analyze loss trends and claims emergence to assess reserve adequacy and identify key drivers of change.
• Review large losses monthly with Claims and Underwriting and support quarterly close and year-end financial reporting.
• Support the Global AvE process and implement reserving best practices and analytical methodologies with other actuaries.
• Collaborate with Data and Technology teams on process improvements, actuarial transformation, ad hoc analyses, and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of property and casualty actuarial experience, with reserving experience strongly preferred.
• ACAS credential or near-ACAS completion.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, business acumen, collaboration, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities, organize work effectively, and adapt to changing business needs.
• Drive to continuously learn, innovate, and improve processes.
• Willingness to learn new programming languages, technologies, and tools as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with VBA, SQL, Snowflake, or other programming languages.
