Accounting Advisory Principal

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; principally in-person workplace model with daily flexibility determined with the supervisor and team. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, except qualified bilingual candidates in Japanese and English or Chinese and English.

Salary: $165,000–$245,000 base salary annually for roles in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Massachusetts.

What you will do

• Lead complex accounting and finance advisory engagements across multiple industries, including planning, execution, analysis, reporting, technical review, and quality assurance.
• Advise clients on US GAAP, accounting operations, staffing gaps, assurance and tax readiness, financial analysis and budgeting, post-acquisition accounting integration, and related finance challenges.
• Manage client relationships, engagement economics, budgeting, realization, billing, collections, proposals, and engagement letters.
• Lead, mentor, coach, and develop engagement teams, including staffing, delegation, performance reviews, and career planning.
• Build a portfolio of senior client decision-makers and drive practice growth through client expansion, cross-selling, referrals, new services, and personal marketing.
• Coordinate internal and external resources, anticipate client needs, and contribute to recruiting, retention, training, and firm initiatives.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Business Administration.
• Proven practice development experience.
• CPA is strongly preferred; equivalent historical finance and accounting experience is acceptable.
• Expert-level experience consulting on and directing multifaceted client engagements in a hands-on role.
• Ability to address current topics for CFOs, Controllers, VPs of Finance, boards of directors’ audit and finance committees, and other accounting and finance governance and leadership roles.
• Experience leading engagement contracts, risk management, and public accounting practices and procedures.
• Ability to navigate accounting systems and financially oriented tools, manage multiple engagements and administrative demands, coordinate information from multiple sources, diagnose client situations, and identify needs.
• Ability to coach team members and extract performance during stretch engagements; ability to remain seated for at least 75% of working time.
