TL;DR
Program Officer, AIR Opportunity Fund (Grantmaking and Applied Research): Managing grantmaking initiatives, research, evaluation, and stakeholder partnerships that expand opportunity and improve outcomes across U.S. communities with an accent on workforce and economic opportunity, health, and youth pathways. Focus on stewarding grants, monitoring outcomes, synthesizing evidence, and coordinating complex projects across priority regions.

Location: Remote within the United States only; candidates must be based in or near the Midwest, greater Washington, DC, area, or Delta Region priority areas. Travel to AIR Opportunity Fund events is expected up to 30%. U.S. territories are excluded.

Salary: $105,000–$130,000 USD annually

hirify.global is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization conducting behavioral and social science research and delivering technical assistance to address major challenges in the United States and globally.

What you will do

  • Manage assigned program initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation.
  • Coordinate multiple projects, workstreams, meetings, convenings, site visits, and stakeholder activities.
  • Conduct research, landscape analyses, and environmental scans to inform funding decisions and program priorities.
  • Synthesize research, field insights, and grantee learnings into reports, briefings, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with grantees, community organizations, researchers, public agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Review grant proposals, conduct due diligence, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for learning and improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in public policy, public health, social sciences, education, nonprofit management, community development, or a related field.
  • At least four years of professional experience combining applied research with philanthropy, grantmaking, social impact investing, or related funding experience.
  • Subject-matter expertise in workforce and economic opportunity, health, and/or youth pathways.
  • Experience using research, evaluation, or data-driven approaches to inform programs, funding decisions, strategy, or organizational learning.
  • Strong research, analytical, communication, relationship-building, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required; employment-based visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with the Deep South, Cleveland, Chicago, and/or Washington, DC communities and regions.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, research institutions, public agencies, philanthropic organizations, or cross-sector partnerships.
