Senior Optics and Laser Engineer (Quantum Technology)

What you will do

• Define and refine optical systems used in trapped-ion quantum computers.
• Develop monitoring for relevant optical-system performance indicators during computer operation.
• Develop and test optical components and systems, including optical modulators.
• Prepare test reports and communicate technical results.
• Integrate procedures across multiple quantum computers to accelerate process-driven development.
• Analyse optical and laser system performance and align systems with future quantum computer requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Optics Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of industry or research experience and awareness of industry standards.
• Experience with optical systems for quantum technology.
• Familiarity with image and data processing and an understanding of signal-processing principles.
• Process-driven mindset with strong communication and writing skills.
• Strong English communication and writing skills are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time electronics and signal processing.
• Hands-on experience with laser systems for ion or atom traps.
• Experience with laser spectroscopy and laser cooling techniques.
• Experience structuring and regularly reporting system performance.
