Sr Director Engineering (Aerospace/UAS)

What you will do

• Lead the multidisciplinary engineering and software organization for the V-BAT UAS program, covering flight software, autonomy, flight controls, ground systems, avionics, payloads, propulsion, and flight sciences.
• Define the engineering vision, technical strategy, system architecture, and technology investment roadmap.
• Make architectural decisions, manage technical and program risks, and drive execution across subsystems and suppliers.
• Establish engineering governance, configuration management, documentation, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
• Build the organization, hire and retain engineering talent, and mentor Directors, engineering managers, and technical leads.
• Collaborate with flight test, operations, program management, supply chain, quality, production, external partners, customers, and government stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical background in aerospace, mechanical, electrical engineering and avionics, propulsion, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and systems, including managers and technical leaders.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated success shipping products, navigating development cycles, resolving obstacles, and delivering high-quality solutions on schedule.
• Ability to ensure compliance with aerospace standards, certification or airworthiness expectations, regulatory requirements, and engineering policies.
