Director of Software Engineering (Flight Software)

Location: Onsite at the Broomfield, Colorado headquarters. Applicants must be a U.S. Person and meet U.S. employment eligibility requirements. Relocation support is available.

Salary: $234,323–$269,600 per year.

hirify.global develops satellites, spacecraft buses, and turnkey missions for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO), including flight and ground software for sensing, communications, and responsive operations.

What you will do

• Lead the software engineering organization across flight software, GNC, applied AI, and ground systems, managing approximately three to four teams of managers and individual contributors.
• Own integrated satellite software performance, including deterministic flight software, control-law implementation and verification, on-orbit and ground AI, and command-and-control systems.
• Manage simulation and hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure that scales across the program and remains representative of flight conditions.
• Close the GNC analytical-to-flight loop by tracing anomalies to model gaps or implementation defects.
• Develop technical leaders across software domains and maintain clear boundaries between flight software, ground tooling, hardware, and software.
• Partner with hardware, systems engineering, and program management leadership to integrate software as a peer discipline within the spacecraft system.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in real-time embedded, GNC, or flight software, including at least four years leading software engineering managers.
• Deep experience with deterministic flight or flight-like software, including timing, scheduling, fault containment, C++ on RTOS, and real-time embedded systems.
• Leadership-level understanding of GNC control-law structure, estimator behavior, actuator interaction, and failure modes.
• Experience building simulation and HIL infrastructure that identified bugs before flight, along with post-mortem practices that improved development pipelines.
• Experience leading heterogeneous software teams across domains outside the leader's original area of expertise.
• Must be a U.S. Person and satisfy U.S. employment eligibility and authorization requirements.
