Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid work with an expectation of three days per week onsite. Employees may work remotely from abroad for up to 30 additional days per year.

What you will do

• Build, enhance, and maintain the main payment processing engine exposed through the hirify.global API.
• Own products and services end to end, from design through production rollout.
• Develop scalable, reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and auditable transaction processing solutions.
• Reduce customer integration effort and accelerate enablement of new payment methods.
• Operate services using a “you build it, you run it” ahirify.globalach, including potential on-call participation.
• Collaborate through pair programming, ADRs, RFCs, knowledge sharing, and agile team practices.

Requirements

• Experience designing and building scalable products and services.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break complex problems into manageable deliverables.
• Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with REST APIs and event-driven microservice architecture.
• Experience with AWS components such as EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and OpenSearch.
• Working proficiency in English and willingness to work onsite in Berlin three days per week.
