Software Engineer (AI Coding Agents)

Location: Hybrid work in the United States, with on-site work at customer facilities in Fort Meade, Maryland, at least 1 day per week and at company headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, at least 1 day per week. On-site frequency may increase based on mission requirements.

Salary: $115,199–$145,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex Java software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Build enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
• Integrate Claude Code or Gemini agentic workflows into daily engineering activities.
• Use autonomous agents for multi-file feature delivery, codebase refactoring, and unit and integration test generation.
• Guide AI agents across multi-repository architectures and audit generated code for security, performance, and architectural alignment.
• Collaborate with engineers in an agile, fast-paced environment while troubleshooting issues and meeting multiple deadlines.

Requirements

• Active Secret-level U.S. Government security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with agile software development, configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, and Maven, and Linux command-line environments.
• Ability to work on-site in Fort Meade and Columbia, Maryland, at least 1 day per week at each location.
• Strong testing, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with AWS or Azure, distributed and NoSQL databases, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
• Scripting experience and familiarity with data lakes or warehouses.
• Experience using Claude Code or Gemini for agent-assisted implementation, refactoring, and automated testing.
