Embedded Software Engineer (Space)

Location: Onsite in Tempe, Arizona; US citizenship required

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and integrate embedded software for satellite payload flight control and cryptographic functions.
• Build embedded and system test software using C/C++ and Python.
• Develop Linux, FreeRTOS, bare-metal, microprocessor, embedded processor, and FPGA applications.
• Design bare-metal device drivers and CI/CD infrastructure and automation services.
• Debug complex integration issues and improve product reliability and security.
• Lead design reviews, documentation, trade-off studies, and Agile Scrum development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–6 years of embedded software design and implementation experience in C/C++.
• 2–3 years of system test software development experience in Python.
• Experience with Linux, RTOS, bare-metal applications, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to work autonomously, communicate effectively, plan team progress, and travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Rust development, FPGA-based architectures, Linux kernel drivers, and embedded emulation environments.
• CI/CD practices, Git, GitHub, Jira, Jama, Artifactory, and GDB over JTAG.
• Ethernet, network security protocols, and Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Master certification.
• Experience with AI toolkits and platforms such as Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
