Cybersecurity Engineer II

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. national security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one. Travel within CONUS and OCONUS is required as needed.

What you will do

• Plan, execute, and present national security and cybersecurity assessments, analyses, studies, recommendations, reports, and briefings.
• Design, engineer, integrate, test, and deploy cybersecurity and network defense solutions across complex DoD environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Enterprise Security, SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, vulnerability management, and network monitoring solutions.
• Support computer network defense, boundary defense, vulnerability mitigation, remediation, risk management, acquisition, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
• Integrate cybersecurity products across Windows, Linux/Unix, network infrastructure, servers, security appliances, APIs, and third-party platforms.
• Coordinate vendor integration, testing, demonstrations, fielding activities, and international customer engagements while collaborating with government, vendors, engineering teams, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. national security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one, are required.
• 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, network defense, systems engineering, or national security.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, network engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience with Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Enterprise Security, enterprise IDS/IPS and firewall technologies, vulnerability management tools, and Wireshark.
• Experience integrating cybersecurity products across complex hardware and software environments, including APIs, scripting, automation, or software development.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills, with the ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS as required.

Nice to have

• CASP+ or CISSP certification, or active pursuit of either certification.
• Foreign Military Sales, DoD Computer Network Defense, or complex DoD acquisition program experience.
• Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, Trellix NX, Tenable Nessus/Tenable.sc, Python, PowerShell, Bash, REST APIs, or cybersecurity tool integrations.
• Experience coordinating CONUS/OCONUS vendor integration and customer events.
