Principal Cyber Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Sterling, Virginia, United States. Onsite role supporting a U.S. Government customer; U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within one year and DHS Suitability.

Salary: $122,000–$253,000 per year, based on qualifications, experience, and expertise.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance frontend and backend components of web applications.
• Design, deploy, and operate advanced cybersecurity capabilities for a mission-critical network operations environment.
• Implement unit, integration, automated, and smoke testing while troubleshooting software defects.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines, deploy applications to cloud platforms, and monitor performance and reliability.
• Implement secure coding practices, encryption, credential and secret management, authentication, authorization, and session management.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, infrastructure, and cross-functional teams; document solutions and mentor team members.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance within one year and DHS Suitability.
• 10+ years of directly relevant software development experience and experience leading multiple software development teams.
• Proficiency with Python, Java, and Node.js; experience with frontend and backend frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, Linux or Unix, Jenkins or CloudBees, Agile development, and cloud computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or JDBC.
• Experience with Pytest, Jupyter, Java Spring, JUnit, Hibernate, JavaScript, or React.
• Experience with multimedia storage, knowledge databases, and data-mining analytics.
• DoDM 8140.03 DCWF Information Systems Security Developer, CSSLP, CISSP, or Scrum Master certification.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail.
