Senior Thermal Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: United States; U.S. citizenship is required because the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

What you will do

• Own thermal engineering methodology across missile systems and define thermal architectures and material selection strategies.
• Design and analyze unmanned air vehicles across conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design stages.
• Develop transient thermal analyses, engineering models, and MATLAB/Python tools using first-principles methods.
• Plan, execute, and analyze specialized thermal ground tests, including instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Plan flight tests and perform post-flight thermal data analysis.
• Collaborate with aerodynamics, structures, electrical, propulsion, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams, and present results in formal reviews.

Requirements

• BS or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
• 5+ years of aerospace thermal engineering experience on rocket, spacecraft, aircraft, or missile programs.
• In-depth knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and high-temperature environments.
• Experience with electronic unit thermal analysis and control to component junctions, thermal instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, or similar tools, plus experience preparing formal technical documentation.
• CAD experience with SolidWorks or Siemens NX and the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• MS or higher degree focused on heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with material ablation response modeling, material degradation, and surface phenomena in extreme thermal environments.
• Flight-test instrumentation and post-flight analysis experience.
• Experience with specialized thermal ground-test facilities, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, and manufacturing or assembly of thermal systems.
• Active U.S. security clearance.
