Senior Scientist, Product Development (Organometallic Chemistry)

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 per year, depending on skills and experience

What you will do

• Develop cost-effective, safe, and scalable synthetic routes for new chemical products.
• Synthesize organic ligands and main-group or organometallic products involving phosphorus, silicon, and transition metals.
• Identify suitable synthesis routes and evaluate target feasibility through bench-scale experiments.
• Use design of experiments methodologies to generate reliable results and optimize key reaction parameters.
• Support scale-up activities with process engineers and scientists, addressing kinetics, equilibria, thermodynamics, materials compatibility, and mixing.
• Document experiments, prepare technical presentations, and collaborate with internal teams and customers.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in organometallic chemistry, main-group chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with classic and modern bench-scale organometallic synthetic chemistry techniques.
• Experience handling air-sensitive materials using Schlenk lines and glove boxes.
• Ability to interpret complex analytical results from NMR, GC, GC-MS, HPLC, and related methods.
• Strong organization, documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Postdoctoral experience in organometallic chemistry or a related discipline.
• Three or more years of industrial experience in chemical product development or manufacturing.

• Experience with design of experiments statistical methods and tools.
• Strong laboratory safety record and practical understanding of health and safety principles.
