Chief Engineer (Autonomy)

What you will do

• Serve as Chief Engineer for projects developing and deploying autonomy solutions on unmanned aircraft systems ranging from Group 2 propeller aircraft to Group 5 jets.
• Lead engineers advancing Hivemind Autonomy and shaping defense autonomy architectures.
• Define technical objectives, assign engineering work, make key technical decisions, and ensure the quality and completeness of deliverables.
• Oversee system architecture, design, development, risk mitigation, integration, and product quality.
• Provide technical leadership across internal research and development initiatives and defense contracts.
• Support customer-facing engineering activities and contribute to government contract proposals.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
• 10+ years of industry experience in autonomy and/or UAS platforms, such as defense technology or self-driving vehicles.
• 7+ years delivering software into production or certifiable high-reliability environments.
• Understanding of guidance, control and navigation, including controls, estimation, and planning.
• Understanding of robotics stacks, software development processes, and effective software deployment.
• Experience defining technical scope, managing requirements, product architectures, ICDs, and system-level design documentation; leadership of teams of 6–20 engineers.
