Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate Kubernetes-based platform systems supporting hirify.global production services.
• Improve reliability, scalability, operability, capacity efficiency, and cluster lifecycle management across the Kubernetes fleet.
• Lead ambiguous, cross-team platform initiatives, including AKS migration, fleet management, control-plane reliability, and workload migration.
• Partner with service owners, infrastructure teams, and engineering leaders on migration paths, operational standards, and platform direction.
• Debug complex production issues across Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, Linux, containers, networking, observability, and distributed systems.
• Build automation and guardrails, participate in incident response, and mentor engineers through technical direction and reviews.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering or equivalent experience, with a record of delivering and maintaining production software.
• Experience coding in one or more production languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Go, Ruby, Rust, or Python.
• 2+ years of experience with large-scale Kubernetes fleet operations, cluster lifecycle management, capacity management, or workload migration.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, written communication, and experience operating cloud-native platform systems in production.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom for this remote role.

Nice to have

• Azure Kubernetes Service or Kubernetes on Azure experience.
• Platform engineering, developer platforms, internal infrastructure products, or infrastructure-as-a-service experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, CRDs, admission control, scheduling, autoscaling, service mesh, or multi-cluster networking.
• Experience with SLOs, observability, incident response, automation, operational readiness, and Staff-level technical leadership.
