Staff Engineer, Compute (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction of capacity management and workload placement for a Kubernetes platform spanning more than 100,000 virtual machines.
• Design and build systems that schedule and deploy workloads across regions while balancing capacity, reliability, and performance.
• Evolve multi-region and multi-cloud capacity orchestration across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
• Develop production software in Go to improve Kubernetes capabilities, automation, and operational efficiency.
• Use operational data and capacity signals to forecast growth and improve workload placement strategies.
• Partner with infrastructure teams and influence platform architecture across organizational boundaries.

Requirements

• Significant experience designing and operating large-scale Kubernetes infrastructure or platform systems.
• Strong software engineering and systems programming skills, ideally in Go or a comparable language.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure and an understanding of distributed cloud infrastructure.
• Strong systems mindset with experience solving infrastructure, scheduling, or capacity management challenges.
• Experience using operational data, capacity forecasting, or analytical approaches to inform engineering decisions.
• Proven technical leadership across teams and the ability to influence architecture without direct management authority.
