Location: Remote Nationwide with a hybrid work arrangement required for candidates living in, or willing to relocate to, a commutable distance from Washington, D.C.; Louisville, KY; Denver, CO; Dallas, TX; or Fort Lauderdale, FL. Boston, MA is preferred. Occasional travel to offices may be required.
Salary: $129,300–$177,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do
- Own delivery, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness for the Next Best Action platform scale and reliability pod.
- Design and implement authoritative state machines and transactional outbox services for dependable, auditable real-time recommendations.
- Build automated unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, load, and performance testing frameworks.
- Develop observability capabilities covering structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, alerting, and monitoring.
- Improve fault tolerance, recovery, performance, throughput, cost efficiency, and production readiness across distributed services.
- Lead and mentor engineers and contractors while collaborating with decisioning, orchestration, activation, platform, and data teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- 8+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, including 1–2 years leading platform reliability, quality engineering, SRE, or production operations initiatives.
- Production development experience with Java, Python, Node.js, or TypeScript.
- Experience with automated testing, observability, distributed-system reliability patterns, and cloud-native applications on Kubernetes.
- Ability to lead a small engineering pod, manage contractors, conduct code reviews, and remain an active individual contributor.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kafka, event-driven architectures, SRE practices, SLOs, SLIs, and incident management.
- Experience with performance testing, chaos engineering, fault injection, Azure DevOps pipelines, CI/CD, and quality gates.
- Background in healthcare, insurance, or another regulated industry.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration, decisioning services, and activation platforms.

- Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week during typical Monday–Friday business hours, with some flexibility based on business needs.
