AI Platform Engineer

Location: San Francisco; Remote. The listed location type is On-site.

Salary: L4 Mid-level $180,000–$250,000 per year plus equity; L5 Senior $220,000–$300,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Build shared platform primitives for agentic systems, including memory, context management, tools, and background execution.
• Create reusable infrastructure for model prototyping, training, evaluation, and developer tooling.
• Develop systems for triggers and context capture across devices, surfaces, and modalities.
• Design model coordination and execution handoff harnesses.
• Make platform systems production-ready through observability, recovery, security, and latency and cost controls.

Requirements

• Experience designing and shipping significant greenfield systems from ambiguous problems through production use.
• Experience building shared primitives adopted by multiple teams, with deliberate abstraction boundaries and developer experience.
• Background owning backend or distributed systems with critical scaling and reliability requirements.
• Ability to design from user-experience requirements covering latency, quality, privacy, and trust.
• Experience aligning product, ML, client, and infrastructure teams and driving architecture decisions to closure.
• Visa sponsorship is available for H1B, O1, EB1, L1, STEM OPT, and other cases when applicable.

Nice to have

• Experience training foundation models, building low-level inference stacks, or working across the listed AI systems domains.
• Exceptional depth in backend and platform systems with the ability to learn adjacent areas quickly.
