Staff Optical Design Engineer (Optical Engineering)

What you will do

• Model optical trains in high-speed optical modules and optimize optical parameters.
• Simulate and calculate optical component tolerances to guide system design.
• Work with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and supplier design engineers on component development and DFM feedback.
• Coordinate with Process, Testing, and Automation teams to optimize designs and establish assembly and test workflows.
• Support optical failure analysis for components and final products.
• Train new optical engineers and conduct peer reviews of optical designs.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in optical design and simulation using Zemax.
• Strong ability to test optical devices, analyze test data, and communicate results.
• Experience with passive and active micro-optics, integrated photonic chips, and optical system testing is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage tasks across multiple projects.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in MATLAB programming.
• Experience designing for high manufacturability.
