Optical Engineering Manager (Quantum Computing)

Salary: $160,000–$185,000 per year, plus bonus plan and incentive stock options.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, manage, and recruit a team of optical engineers.
• Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and optimization of complex optical systems for laser-based semiconductor equipment.
• Develop optical specifications, tolerance analyses, and performance models.
• Integrate optical systems with mechanical and software components.
• Plan and manage projects, timelines, budgets, vendors, procurement, and cross-functional alignment.
• Oversee technical documentation, testing, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in optical system design and development, preferably in optoelectronics, lasers, optical communications, or optics in computing.
• Experience with Fourier optics, flat-field relay optical systems, telecentric imaging, and high-numerical-aperture imaging systems.
• Experience with Zemax, FRED, or equivalent ray-tracing software.
• Experience with Onshape, SolidWorks, or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Deep knowledge of optics, laser physics, optical instrumentation, project management, and team leadership.
