Senior Application Support Engineer

Location: Hybrid in the Reading area, with 3–4 days on site per week; rotating shifts from 7:00–15:00 or 9:30–17:30, with potential out-of-hours on-call support.

What you will do

• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve issues in Windows desktop and server-based applications.
• Own complex second- and third-line incidents and resolve them within agreed SLAs.
• Perform application health checks, upgrades, security patching, and impact analysis across production and non-production environments.
• Investigate Windows Event Viewer and application logs to identify root causes.
• Implement monitoring and continual service improvements to reduce ticket volumes and improve reliability.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and coaching to junior analysts while collaborating with application engineers and the client.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in application support, systems administration, or an IT service desk environment.
• Advanced analytical problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience supporting Windows-based applications and working with SQL Server and SSRS.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, operating systems, cloud platforms, and basic programming integrations.
• Understanding of ServiceNow or a related IT service management tool, plus strong knowledge of ITIL service management processes.
• High Level Clearance required.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator.
• ITIL V4 Foundation or vendor-specific CRM/ERP certification.
• Experience with Dynatrace or other monitoring tools.
