Information System Security Officers (ISSO), Senior Security Engineers & Security Engineering Leads (CBP)

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, United States — hybrid. U.S. citizenship is required. Rare travel may be required. Candidates without an active CBP Background Investigation can enter the CBP BI processing pipeline.

Signing bonus: $10,000 for candidates with an active CBP BI and EOD, payable after 90 days under standard terms. Salary range: pending.

What you will do

• Maintain authorization and accurate security documentation for assigned CBP systems as an ISSO.
• Harden, monitor, and remediate systems, including defining secure configurations and security tooling.
• Lead security engineering standards and practices where applicable.
• Trace recurring findings to their technical or process causes and implement durable remediation.
• Bring security requirements into system and architecture decisions early enough to influence designs.
• Maintain an accurate security posture and communicate material risks to program leadership.

Requirements

• Experience carrying systems through authorization and working within RMF or an equivalent federal authorization framework.
• Experience closing classes of security findings, not only individual tickets.
• Experience writing or reviewing security documentation defended before government reviewers.
• Experience operating continuous monitoring with incomplete or evolving data.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active CBP BI, DHS fitness determination, or active DoD clearance is strongly preferred; CISSP, CISM, CAP, or Security+ are useful but do not replace practical experience.
