Manager, Autonomy Applications Engineering (R5188)

Location: London, United Kingdom; Workplace: On-site. The role includes up to 30% travel for customer site visits and active engagement oversight.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, and develop a team of Forward Deployed Engineers.
• Own planning, prioritization, staffing, and execution for on-site and virtual customer engagements.
• Provide technical leadership for customer onboarding, deployment, adoption, troubleshooting, and operational success with the Hivemind SDK.
• Translate customer goals, mission needs, and program objectives into technical milestones, execution plans, and team priorities.
• Guide debugging and resolution of complex software and integration issues while removing blockers for customers and internal teams.
• Collect and communicate field feedback, product gaps, and recurring customer pain points to product and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of relevant technical experience in software, deployment, solutions, applications, or forward deployed engineering.
• 2+ years of people management or formal technical leadership experience for engineers.
• Experience in a customer-facing technical leadership role.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including complex systems review, debugging, and technical trade-off guidance.
• Strong proficiency with modern C++ and professional experience with Python, plus the ability to travel up to 30%.

• 3+ years of experience working in a startup environment.
• Leadership experience in defense, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems.
• Experience building or scaling forward deployed, solutions, applications, or customer engineering functions.
• Experience using field feedback to influence product direction and establish repeatable customer-success playbooks.
