Vulnerability Assessment (VA) Team Lead (CBP)

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, United States; hybrid. U.S. citizenship is required. An active CBP Background Investigation and EOD are strongly preferred; candidates without them may begin the clearance process.

What you will do

• Lead vulnerability scanning, assessment, and prioritization across CBP systems and infrastructure.
• Evaluate findings by real exploitability and mission impact rather than scanner severity alone.
• Coordinate with network, cloud, and security engineering teams to drive remediation.
• Provide confirmed exploitable findings and context to threat hunt and incident response leads.
• Track open, remediated, in-progress, and accepted risks accurately for leadership reporting.
• Improve assessment methodology and coverage for new systems and changing environments.

Requirements

• Experience leading vulnerability assessment or penetration testing work that resulted in completed remediation.
• Experience prioritizing vulnerabilities by exploitability and business or mission impact.
• Experience in a federal or highly regulated environment and familiarity with remediation timelines and risk acceptance.
• Ability to influence engineering teams to address vulnerabilities that have not yet caused visible incidents.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active CBP BI, DHS fitness determination, or active DoD clearance is preferred and can shorten the start date.

Nice to have

• OSCP, GPEN, or an equivalent certification.

• Candidates with an active CBP BI and EOD may start sooner; candidates without the investigation may enter a clearance-processing pipeline that can take months.
• A $10,000 signing bonus is available to candidates with an active CBP BI, payable after 90 days under standard terms.
