Senior Software Technical Lead (Embedded Systems)

Location: Farnborough, United Kingdom. Must be a UK sole national and have or be capable of obtaining UK security clearance.

What you will do

• Define and improve the software development lifecycle, engineering processes, and toolsets.
• Provide architectural guidance focused on system integration and lead detailed software architecture for embedded systems and user applications.
• Implement engineering governance, quality standards, stage-gated peer reviews, and design review metrics.
• Lead software design verification testing and support teams in meeting project milestones.
• Resolve complex software issues, production bugs, and component obsolescence in legacy systems.
• Mentor software engineers, identify skills gaps and training needs, and support recruitment planning.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Degree in Software Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience defining engineering processes and toolsets.
• Ability to implement engineering governance and design review metrics.
• UK sole nationality and eligibility to obtain UK security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-assurance software standards and secure coding guidelines, including RUST.
• Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems.
• Experience coaching engineers to improve output quality without heavy administrative management.
